Chris Arden (De Courcey) is in his eighteenth year with WWOS, during which time he has played many varied roles, favourites of which include Judge Turpin (Sweeney Todd), Fred Graham/Petruchio (Kiss Me, Kate) and Harold Hill (The Music Man). He also performs at the Bob Hope Theatre and Broadway Theatre and roles have included The Poet (Kismet), Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof), Emile de Beque (South Pacific), the American and the Arbiter (Chess) and Daddy Warbucks (Annie). Chess is one of Chris’ favourite musicals, this being his third production, having previously played the American at this theatre and the Arbiter at the Bob Hope Theatre. The combination of a really demanding rock score and a strong storyline with political subplots makes Chess a really challenging show to perform. Chris is enjoying playing the CIA/TV boss, Walter de Courcey, since it gives him third, and completely different, perspective on the action.
