David Hodgson (Wilfred Shadbolt) has a singing career spanning many decades. His first 'professional' appearance was as a schoolboy in York Minster in 1957 at a salary of 2s/6d a quarter! He joined his first operatic Society in 1965 and in 1967 even performed G&S in Munster, York's twin city in Germany. Moving to SE London in 1969 he continued with his hobby and has been a regular performer with a number of local societies ever since. Some of his favourite roles are Motel (Fiddler on the Roof), Wild Bill Hickock (Calamity Jane), Ali Ben Ali (The Desert Song), Joe (Showboat), Jud Fry (Oklahoma!) and Molotov (Chess). When not performing, David works hard so he can follow his other love, elephants! - he is a Africa 'nut' who, after a fifteen month stint managing a safari lodge in Zambia, returns to Africa and goes on safaris whenever he can.
