Paul Mount (Etches) had his first experience of the stage before he was five, when he won a paint box for his rendition of How much is that doggy in the window? at the Bandstand in his native town of Herne Bay. After playing Hecule Poirot in Agatha Christie’s Black Coffee during his last year of school (several years ago, he says), he joined local amateur dramatic societies before moving away.  He has appeared in plays, pantomimes, comedies, operettas, musicals and old time music halls and his favourite part was probably playing the mischievous Tony Lumpkin in Oliver Goldsmith’s classic comedy, She Stoops To Conquer. Although he enjoys the opportunity to play character roles such as Colonel Pickering (My Fair Lady) last year, he very much enjoys the camaraderie of the chorus, especially when it includes the occasional cameo part. He is also a member of Wickham’s Wandering Old Tyme Stagers, who keep alive the Olde Tyme Music Hall tradition at a range of venues across the southeast.
