Paul Mount (Henry Etches) cut his stage teeth through plays, pantomimes, comedies, operettas, musicals and old time music halls in his native Herne Bay (Theatrecraft and the Operatic Society). When he moved to Hayes he continued ‘treading the boards’ with a variety of local societies. His first performance with the WWOS was in 1973 as Mercury (Orpheus in the Underworld), after which he felt it prudent to move further south to Horley, Surrey, where he now resides! In the last few shows, he has played a variety of light-hearted characters, such as the kind-hearted butler, Drake (Annie and Annie Warbucks), Parchester, the light-footed solicitor (Me and My Girl), Carmen Gia (The Producers) and the Munchkin Coroner and a dancing crow (The Wizard of Oz). Although he recently enjoyed playing the dark, sinister character, Annas (Jesus Christ Superstar), he is extremely pleased to resurrect his portrayal of Henry Etches, a kindly man who may also have served on Titanic’s sister ship HMHS Britannic and survived a second shipwreck four years later.
